Granny Girl, as my sister and I called her, was giving us a bath when we were little. Marcie and I loved to fill the tub all the way up to the top and splash away in the bubbles until we were shriveled up like raisins (I can only imagine our water bill). On this occasion, Granny Girl filled the tub about ¼ of the way and turned off the water.
I protested, “More water, Granny—more water!”
Granny Girl put her hands on the faucets and pretended to turn them on—no more water.
I complained again, “Granny Girl, more water—more water!”
Once again, Granny Girl went through the motion of imitating the faucets not working, then shrugged and said, “No more water.”
I wasn’t having it. I stood up butt naked with my hands on my hips and blurted out the last thing I memorized in Sunday School: “ ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ —Philippians 4:13.”
Granny Girl looked at me, stunned, and said, “Well heavens, child— LET THERE BE WATER!" and proceeded to fill the tub all the way to the top!
Aside from the scripture quoting, this story epitomizes who I am today. These early lessons shaped my ability to rise above any challenge and find a solution. Tell me no, and I’m going to find the yes. Finding opportunity through adversity is one of my most fulfilling life experiences, and I guess that’s why I’m a believer in anyone’s ability to do All Things.
So here’s All Things me:
Once deep fried in an almost 20-year restaurant career, I am now sautéing my skills in the world of marketing consulting. My latest obsession: pickleball, and my friends often joke about my undeniable "pickleball problem," especially since I'm on the court five times a week without fail.
Beyond the court, I'm a God-fearing moderate and storyteller. I’m a wife to Cathy, daughter to Phil and Sahndra, sister to Marcie and her husband, Abel, and aunt to Mason, Ethan, Nolan, and Andrew. I’m a dog Mom to Indigo. Nothing gives me more joy than pranking my friends, and in my dreams, I’m a championship water skier.
I’ve been blessed with an amazing family, lots of business opportunities, and so many fun adventures. I believe life is terrific and I’m grateful for it. Thank you so much for visiting my site. I hope you’ll stay connected and reach out with any questions or thoughts of your own.
Here's to sharing and loving All Things us!
